Sports - KYLE HADY wrestling -STATE Tournament
Date Posted: Mar 02, 2008
Kyle had an exciting and successful State tournament last weekend, with 2 wins and 2 losses... despite dislocating his shoulder in the last seconds of his final match!

He lost his first round match to a guy who wound up finishing 5th in the state, I think. He then won 2 matches in the consolation round. Then wrestled a guy some had projected as 8th best in state... And Kyle was winning, but then it went to overtime, tied at 7-7... The other guy got the takedown to win it, and as then came down hard on the mat Kyle put his right hand out to break the fall and the force and position was too great/awkward and his shoulder popped out. A doctor put it back in while he was still on the mat. Fortunately Kyle hasn't actually been in too much pain since the initial blow/shock. Xrays were negative fortunately, too.

He's most disappointed b/c he couldn't play varsity soccer with his high schoool team right away, and he'd already delayed his start (missed 3 games already). Standard rehab/physical therapy and recovery is 4-6 wks but that's conservative, and he's in great shape and has muscular shoulders and it was his first time, so we're hoping more like 2-3 weeks.

Regardless, he had a great season... A winning regular season record...

Then just making it to State was quite an accomplishment many year-round wrestlers never achieve during their h.s. careers... And going 500 (2-2) at State, and wrestling well. Not bad for a soccer player. And the "third leg" of 1. being in the State h.s. soccer championship game last spring... And 2. storybook football season -- "walked on" just 1 week before school started, team made playoffs, and Camden and Roswell historic victories, missing only 2 kicks all season... A fantastic past 12 months, and senior year, for Kyle. And he'll still have time to make an impact and have fun competing w/soccer team, and hopefully helping them get to playoffs again and win region. Will just have to wait a bit more...
